Argonne National Laboratory seeks a Technical Writer/Editor for Policy, Procedures, Manuals, and Reports in Communications and Public Affairs. The successful candidate will write and/or edit Argonne National Laboratory policies, procedures, manuals, and technical/scientific documents; coordinate and integrate the technical reviews, approval, and publishing of these materials; work with subject matter experts to clearly explain work processes and research results; and collaborate with communications colleagues to produce and post the documents. Position Requirements
Analytical ability and comprehension of complex technical and scientific information and processes Rewriting, substantive editing, proofreading, and quality assurance of a wide range of policies and procedures, as well as scientific publications Expertise in crafting precise and easily understandable language from technical/scientific content for audiences with varying levels of technical and scientific understanding Adept at applying best practices for technical writing and editing Ensuring clarity, correctness, and effectiveness in language, tables and charts, illustrations, and data presentation Adherence to various style requirements, such as the University of Chicago Style Guide and Argonne's branding Experience in communications project management to handle multiple projects, schedules, and deadlines efficiently and effectively, often under tight deadlines Knowledge of documentation management Familiarity with ISO 9001 document control standards a plus Knowledge of/experience in 508 compliance a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially a high degree of competency in Word and Word layout), Adobe Acrobat, and Excel) Experience with SharePoint and Drupal a plus Strong customer service orientation Passion for the mission of the Lab Ability to model Argonne's Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience, or equivalent; candidates with a strong technical or domain science background a plus Please submit a minimum of three samples that reflect editorial skills in translating complex concepts into easy-to-understand language, along with a resume and cover letter. Job Family: Professional Administrative (PA) Job Profile: Writing/Editing 3 Worker Type: Regular Time Type: Full time The expected hiring range for this position is $73,793.00 - $116,445.42. Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
