The John F. Reed Library provides public library service to the Fort Lewis College community and the general public. This Library Technician II position typically works Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On occasion, if staffing is low, this position may need to work a night or weekend shift to provide library coverage and would be eligible for shift differential pay.
This position provides support for the day to day operations of the Access Services Department, including Circulation and Stacks Management including the supervision of approximately six student employees.
Job Description:
Job Duties:
Patron Services 40%
Provides patron services to members of the Fort Lewis College community and other library patrons, including all supervisory functions of the circulation module in the Integrated Library System (III Sierra), material retrieval, patron registration process, back up to interlibrary loan and Prospector reciprocal borrowing, back up to Course Reserves, assessing and negotiating fines and reductions in fines. Provides technical assistance with computers, copiers, printers, scanners, etc. Provides in conjunction with other department personnel, back up for night and weekend coverage.
Train & Supervise Student Employees 40%
Interviews, hires, supervises, and provides evaluations for approximately six student workers. Trains and monitors student worker tasks including customer service, shelving, statistics gathering, cleaning, recycling, projects, digital repository metadata, etc.
Library Facility Supervision 10%
Monitors patron activities and condition of the library building during specific hours. Reports needed repairs and problems and enacting emergency management procedures as needed. Ensures that the library facility is secure, clean, safe, and functional for students and other patrons. Maintains orderly and correctly organized physical collections, including storage areas and participating in weeding and shifting projects. Implements space utilization statistical gathering.
Special Projects 5%
Under the direction of the Access Services Coordinator and the Library Director, weeding projects, end of semester special events, continuous process improvements, etc.
Participation in Library Teams and Work Groups 5%
Takes an active role in various assigned library teams, including Access Services Group, and/or others as assigned.
Residency Requirement:
Residents and non-residents of Colorado may apply and be hired into this position as the work will be performed primarily at a location that is within 30 miles of the state border.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of library science and/or library experience equal to two (2) years. Part time work will be prorated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Work experience in an academic library.
Working knowledge of the Library of Congress call number system.
Circulation desk experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with interlibrary loan and Prospector reciprocal borrowing.
