Overview
The Digital Producer contributes to OkayAfrica’s (OKA) mission by being a key member of the editorial staff. You will be responsible for ensuring our content is accurate, SEO-optimized, and up-to-date.
The Digital Producer has the following responsibilities and duties:
- Work closely with OKA writers and editors to complete and publish articles for the OkayAfrica website.
- Document content developments and workflows in the proper databases using Asana.
- Work with SEO strategists to make sure articles are SEO-optimized.
- Ferry content through the editorial process, including:
- Styling and formatting original articles
- Reviewing and tracking graphics, and coordinating with the Creative team.
- Sending content to a variety of external contributors for review; setting deadlines and following up to ensure timely responses.
- Proofreading, fact-checking, checking links and references, and finalizing graphics for publication; ensuring content is error-free and consistent with OkayAfrica style guidelines.
- Address all editorial tasks in a timely manner.
- Track progress toward annual goals and provide accurate monthly reports to indicate completed and in-process work.
The Digital Producer should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent proofreading, communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Prior editorial experience is required
- Proficiency with Google Drive suite of apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
- Familiarity with Asana is a plus
- Proficient in WordPress and experienced with other comparable CMS platforms.
