Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Telecommunications Specialist to oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of telecommunications systems and devices. The ideal candidate will manage the technical aspects of various projects, ensuring seamless operations and high levels of customer satisfaction. This role requires the ability to lead teams, work independently, and expertise in managing daily telecom operations. Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Direct technical work on projects, ensuring adherence to design concepts and user requirements. Perform a variety of analyses and prepare documentation, including reports and presentations. Lead teams in on-site management of installations and system configurations. Install, operate, maintain, configure, troubleshoot, and repair IT systems, devices, circuits, cables, components, software, and end-user devices. Assist in developing and managing project plans, tracking progress, and ensuring project milestones are met. Coordinate with teams and programs to ensure technical solutions meet requirements and user satisfaction. Handle daily telecom operations, including moves, adds, changes, maintenance, repairs, new installations, testing, and troubleshooting. Manage telecom tasks through PMO direction and the DLA J6 ITSM ticketing system. Work with Voice Services and Network teams to install and maintain ISDN, Analog, or VoIP (Voice over IP) systems, resolving discrepancies and ensuring smooth operation. Troubleshoot and resolve telephone hardware/software issues (e.g., no dial tone, misdirected calls, static). Install, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of telecommunications circuits, including Transport connections (SDH, SONET, WDM, OTN), Ethernet connections (microwave/MPLS/SDH/SONET), Data connections (MPLS, IP, DCN, ATM), Voice connections (customer voice connections, voice routes, core and access links, PA systems), Video circuits (CATV, CCTV, VTC, HD, composite) etc. Manage the delivery and removal of IT and telecom equipment to/from customer locations and warehouses. Provide logistical support to the Infrastructure and Customer Support groups using ServiceNow software to manage incidents, tasks, and work orders. Configure, modify, troubleshoot, and delete VoIP hard phones, softphone numbers, extension mobility profiles, and voicemail profiles. Update and modify phone settings, including speed dials and line behavior, using Cisco Unified Communications Manager and other provisioning tools. Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics
Engineering, or a related field (Preferred but not mandatory).
Experience:
Seven (7) years of progressive IT experience, including involvement in at least five (5) projects related to Network and Telecommunications Services, with at least one project completed in the past three (3) years. Extensive experience in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of IT systems and telecommunications technologies. Strong expertise in telecom systems, including ISDN, Analog, and VoIP technologies. Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues in telecommunications systems. Experience with a wide range of telecom circuits and technologies, including Ethernet, MPLS, SDH, SONET, and fiber optic connections. Proven ability to collaborate with technical teams and effectively manage on-site installations. Other Required Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and VoIP configurations. Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Strong analytical skills and ability to prepare technical documentation and reports. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Security Clearance Requirement:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
