Middle School MUSIC TEACHER

Opportunity starting August 2025. Alta Vista Middle School is seeking a dynamic Music Teacher to lead the middle school music program.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $112,000

The Position: Middle School Music Teacher

• Design and teach instrumental music classes to middle school students
• Support the production of the Middle School Spring Musical
• Serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students
• Lead an after-school club one day a week
• Plan, and organize weekly Community Meetings
• Participate in field trips and an annual grade-level trip
• Design and maintain a vibrant classroom environment
• Work cooperatively and collegially with the school’s administration, faculty and staff, and parents to create and maintain an exemplary school environment
• Prepare for and actively participate in all school activities, faculty meetings, and conferences, including those with parents, during and after school hours as may be necessary
• Cultivate collaboration, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, fun, innovation, and excellence in a dynamic learning community
• Conduct dynamic and flexible instruction to address a variety of learning styles and interests
• Reflect on teaching with a critical eye in order to continuously improve practice
• Evaluate and give feedback on student progress regularly using standards-based assessment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree; Master’s degree preferred
• In-depth knowledge of music curricula and best teaching practices
• Experience teaching music at the middle school and/or secondary school level
• Familiarity with teaching in independent schools preferred
