Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sign Shop and Graphics Designer is responsible for producing signage for liquor and beer customers and provides team leadership, managing and assigning the production work queue, acts as subject matter expert and resource on design standards and acting manager in the absence of the department manager.
Responsibilities:
- Performs advanced graphics design work and finishing to produce promotional materials and signage for customers, suppliers and internal use.
- Consults with customers on project requirements and design elements.
- Manages team workload based on availability, utilization, team strengths and development areas.
- Uses eoStar to track status of signage and requests.
- Looks up product and account information.
- Acts as a resource for the team on design standards, product knowledge, and supplier templates
- Expands knowledge on supplier and product portfolio
- Creates complex design work and concepts primarily from scratch based on supplier specifications.
- Accesses supplier websites to utilize graphics logos, images and templates current for requested signage, updates and maintains file for team reference
- Mentors team members in graphic design and finishing; reviews designs and provides feedback to ensure design standards are met. Prepares proofs for review with customers, sales people or supervisors and makes necessary changes.
- Acts as primary contact consults with sales managers and representatives on project requirements and specifications; approves work for graphics department processing queue based on project costs, supplier and company policy
- Determines and provides guidance to customers and other team members on the appropriate materials to use for signage depending on intended use, where the sign will be displayed, and how long the sign will be on display.
- Maintains archive of images, photos and previous work.
- Approves work request in the production queue; organizes and prioritizes jobs based on customer need; assigns work to team members based on individuals team members skills and capabilities
- Serves as the escalation point for sales manager and representatives on status of work request, changes, problems issues, questions.
- Acts as backup for manager to assist in problem resolution for escalation to internal teams, IT, HR, Finance
- Acts as backup for manager as contact for team members availability for work and assigned scheduled.
- Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on supplier and customer requests using esthetic design concepts or from supplier provided templates
- Access supplier websites to utilize graphics logos, images and templates current for requested signage

- Determine appropriate materials to use for signage depending on intended use, where the sign will be displayed, and how long the sign will be on display
- Print and finish signage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred
- 2 years of graphics design experience required
- Experience working with alcohol beverage industry suppliers and product and product portfolio required
Skills and Abilities:
- Expert product knowledge
- Expert level proficiency with Graphics software (Corel and Adobe)
- Knowledge of large format printers, digital press, laminators
- Advanced knowledge of sign finishing and production basics
- Ability to prioritize tasks of other team members

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and up to 160 pounds on an occasional basis
