Help play an important role in the health of Minnesotans by supporting the work of the Oral Health Program at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). This exciting opportunity will offer direct communications experience working with MDH staff Oral Health.
The position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Create, update and manage content for a variety of platforms, including newsletters, web, presentations, social media, and handouts, factsheets.
Provide communications ideas and planning for topic awareness months.
Contribute to planning and implementing small-scale communications projects.
Tabling at outreach events to promote oral health.
This position is part-time and will work up to 20 hours per week. The specific hours and days of work are flexible within 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, around student’s class schedule. Work may be conducted in-person in St. Paul, or as telework for applicants who reside in MN, IA, WI, ND, SD based on the business needs of the unit and supervisor discretion. This temporary position has an expected end date of March 4, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications

Completion of one year of post-secondary education and enrolled or about to be enrolled in a degree-seeking program in one of the following areas: communications, health communications, health, public health or a related field.
Knowledge, skills and abilities that will be assessed during the interview process:
Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to present projects and ideas clearly.
Knowledge of communications principles best practices, methods, techniques, and tools.
Ability to be detail focused and spot inconsistencies to ensure communications meet standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of basic graphic design principles.
Knowledge of branding, positioning, and maintaining brand personality.
Experience with the following design software: Adobe Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Experience writing and preparing email marketing campaigns.
Experience creating web and social media content.
Experience creating print materials.
Knowledge of the AP Stylebook.

This position requires successful completion of a background and reference check.
