Engagement & Outreach Coordinator, Missouri School of Journalism
The Missouri School of Journalism seeks an exemplary communicator with the knowledge, skills and personality to lead the School’s engagement, outreach, and recruitment efforts.
The successful candidate will play a key role in attracting, engaging, and enrolling prospective undergraduates to the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment strategies, building relationships with prospective students and their families, and working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and university admissions to increase undergraduate enrollment. The coordinator represents the college at high schools, college fairs, and special events and provides guidance to prospective students throughout the admissions process.
Additionally, the position requires strategic communication skills to promote and strengthen key partnerships with internal and external audiences.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in social media marketing with understanding of methods for increasing lead generation and conversion rates.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve integrated communication campaigns for high school students, high school teachers, and counselors from first communication through visit and follow-up with personal communication plans using the SLATE Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director on the creation and delivery of marketing materials such as viewbooks, videos, social media campaigns, etc.
- Serve as primary liaison between the School and printer to ensure timely delivery of print materials to prospective students and families.
- Oversee and manage a team of journalism school ambassadors to staff events and tours.
- Oversee and coordinate daily presentations and tours at the Missouri School of Journalism for visiting high school students and their families.
- Represent Mizzou and the School of Journalism at student-focused journalism education events.
- Maintain personal communication with high school students and high school counselors following events.
- Represent Mizzou and the School of Journalism to high school students, parents, and alumni at college fairs and high school visits, including significant in and out-of-state travel to communicate with journalism educators, students, and alumni.
- Build custom messages using Slate, the CRM for enrollment management and communication at the University of Missouri.
- Develop a strategic plan for delivering programs to high school teachers and students.
- Plan and coordinate visits from beginning to end for large groups of students including the Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association (MIJA), the Missouri University Journalism Workshop, Distributed Education Clubs of America (DECA), and various other groups with an interest in journalism and strategic communication.
- Collaborate with journalism school leadership and administration on communication of scholarships and awards through the School of Journalism.
- Prepare reports annually on recruitment efforts and trends in advance of annual strategic planning sessions.
This staff role will focus on undergraduate recruitment efforts and will work directly with the Missouri School of Journalism Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies while collaborating extensively with the University of Missouri Office of Admissions and the Missouri School of Journalism Communications Director.
Shift
Hours are primarily Monday - Friday, 8-5. Evenings and weekends are required at various times throughout the year with advance notice.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sales, marketing, or social media management.
Experience working with a variety of student populations.
Familiarity with financial aid processes and scholarship opportunities.
Experience using data analytics to inform recruitment strategies.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $51,875 - $73,008
Grade: GGS-10
