Hospitalist Physicians are medical specialists who often complete their residency training in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or another primary care medical specialty. Hospitalist Physicians confine their practice to an in-patient hospital setting, focusing on patient care inside a hospital rather than on a specific organ or medical issue. A Hospitalist Physician will rely on his/her primary care medical training to provide hospital medicine medical care to both hospitalized adult and pediatric patients (inpatients). The SOC code for Hospitalists is: 29-1229.02, Hospitalists.

Medical degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent); completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; and possess or eligible to apply for Alaska medical license.
