DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES is seeking a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Responsibilities include: Assess each student's vision skills to determine current level of functioning and the need for vision services Develop instructional support services and products for low vision and blind students Evaluate student's progress and submit written evaluation reports. Identify and support the use of specific vision related assistive technology Maintain daily log/session notes Write IEP goals and attend CSE meetings Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, district personnel, students, and parents. Perform related duties as required REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Education Department Certification: Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired is required Knowledge, experience, and expertise working with students who require vision services Knowledge of Expanded Core curriculum, vision technology, orientation and mobility along with excellent written, verbal and communication skills are preferred
SALARY:
As per contract.
