INDUS supports the planning, coordination, and installation activities of Combat System and Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence (C5I) Systems in aircraft carriers, and other strike group or strike force units (including but not limited to LHA, LHD, LPD, and other L-Class units). Our team is directly responsible for supporting the planning, budgeting, and execution of New Construction (SCN) testing and modernization efforts in support of the Modernization and Installation Department (N Department), Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD).
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Technical Writer is responsible for drafting and updates to material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance for the Modernization and Installation Department (N Department), Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD) on the CVN/L-Class Support Services contract. This position is located in Port Hueneme, CA.
This is a full-time (40-hours per week), 2-month contract position with the potential for extension and/or conversion to a permanent full-time position based on funding and performance.
What You'll Do
- Determine the needs of users of each respective technical document.
- Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers.
- Work with technical staff to make instructions easier to use.
- Write or revise supporting content.
- Edit material prepared by other writers or staff.
- Standardize content across platforms and media.
- Collect user feedback to update and improve content.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
- HS Diploma required.
- Three (3) years of experience writing and editing technical documents.
- Ability to travel and work aboard ship.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan workload and meet established deadlines.
- The individual must be able to clearly and concisely articulate technical subject matter both written and verbally.
- Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Must possess strong time management skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
- Travel Required ~10% travel required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business, Finance, Leadership, or related discipline.
- Comfortable presenting work progress and status presentations in meetings with Senior Program personnel.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan, coordinate and execute project activities on schedule.
- Must possess strong self-initiative and ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to work both independently and on a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment.
- Ability to effectively brief senior level Navy personnel.
INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000. This position is eligible to participate in our corporate 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) programs, and may be eligible for performance bonuses, and other rewards and benefits. The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
