Job Description
DIGITAL CONTENT MANAGER
Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests.
The Maymont Foundation is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic Digital Content Manager to manage the online community and public relations efforts of Maymont to improve engagement, increase awareness and promote the Maymont Brand. Reporting to the VP of Advancement and Engagement, the Digital Content Manager will provide support in the following areas including but not limited to: social media content and copywriting for various digital mediums. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills as well as a sharp eye for aesthetics and excellence in written communications. They should be highly passionate about increasing positive awareness of Maymont and engaging with stakeholders and guests on and offline.
The Digital Content Manager will manage social media accounts for Maymont by implementing strategies and tactics to grow, engage and retain followers and help convert them into donors, volunteers and active advocates and promoters of Maymont. They should have command of best practices and trends in social media marketing, all digital channels, enjoy being creative and understand how to both build and convert a digital audience. The Maymont Foundation is seeking a self-starter, proactive problem solver and detail-oriented team player.
Essential Functions:
- Build and manage Maymont's social media profiles and presence including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and look for opportunities to create new strategies around emerging relevant platforms
- Manage the strategy and maintenance of Maymont's website
- Manage and design Maymont's email program targeting a variety of constituencies, including members, donors, prospective donors and volunteers
- Create shareable content appropriate for specific social networks to enhance both the Maymont brand and its content
- Monitor and engage in relevant social media discussions about Maymont, competitors and industry
- Run regular social promotions, campaigns and live events (i.e. Twitter chats, Facebook and Instagram live discussions, etc.)
- Track, measure, analyze and report metrics on all initiatives, implement findings to drive smarter strategy and deeper engagement with key audiences and social media ROI
- Manage, update and interact with reviews and community feedback on platforms like Google, Trip Advisor and similar
- Encourage advocacy of the Maymont brand across social media
- Manage Maymont's social media advertising, including budgets, scheduling, content creation, communication to leadership and partners and reporting metrics to corporate sponsors and partners
- Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our digital presence, explore new ways to engage and identify with target audiences via social media
- Work cross departmentally to strengthen communities as well as ensure content distribution across all digital channels to meet marketing, brand, and revenue objectives
- Assists with other duties and tasks as assigned

- Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with a command of each channel's best practices
- Excellent communication and creative thinking, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions and strategy that represent the Maymont brand
- The ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy in a highly organized and detail-oriented manner
- A collaborative, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to build a community and drive content engagement on relevant social media platforms
- Strong content creation/editing background with expertise in social media management software
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver's license required with reliable transportation to and from Maymont
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years professional social media experience for brands
- Proficiency in MS Office, Wordpress, Sprout Social and Mailchimp
- Experience with Blackbaud databases (Raiser's Edge or Altru) and project management software (i.e. Asana) preferred
- Degree in marketing, communications, or relevant discipline preferred
- Command of the English language and grammar
- Proficiency in using social media software to monitor social media conversations
- Experience and skills in Adobe Creative Suite preferred
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking and talking for extended periods
- Frequent climbing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
