Position Summary Salem College seeks a dynamic, motivated individual for the role of
Director of Sports Information, Communication, and Marketing . This role oversees athletic communications, sports information, and marketing strategies to promote Salem College Athletics, enhance student-athlete visibility, and support the college’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sports Information:
Serve as the primary media contact for athletic programs.
Manage the Athletics website and team pages with current content.
Create and distribute game recaps, press releases, and features.
Maintain NCAA-sponsored sports statistics and ensure timely reporting.
Coordinate live-streaming and video production for home games.
Serve as official scorer or designate personnel for home events.
Communication and Media Relations:
Develop relationships with media outlets to enhance coverage.
Manage information dissemination via email, media alerts, and social media.
Oversee content creation, graphics, and videos for social platforms.
Marketing and Branding:
Create campaigns to boost attendance, engagement, and community involvement.
Develop branded content aligned with Salem’s mission and athletic vision.
Design promotional materials for events and initiatives.
Collaborate with the College’s Marketing Office for brand consistency.
Administration and Leadership:
Manage the department’s budget responsibly.
Participate in departmental planning and decision-making as part of the leadership team.
Attend home games and travel for postseason events as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, sports management, marketing, or related field.
1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.
Proficiency with statistical software and website management tools.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Experience with graphic design, video production, and digital marketing preferred.
Work Environment
Office setting with event setup at athletic venues.
Evening and weekend hours during athletic seasons.
Travel required for competitions and professional development.
Physical Functions Responsibilities include sitting, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, working extended hours at a computer, and working in an office environment. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
