Adjusts, tests, services, maintains, and installs radio transmitters, receivers, and other communications equipment in vehicles and permanent locations; designs, constructs, modifies, and repairs radio equipment; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancies:
- Five vacancies with the Honolulu Police Department, Support Services Bureau
- One vacancy with the Honolulu Fire Department.

Salary Information:
Honolulu Fire Department: $4,766 per month (SR-19)
Honolulu Police Department: $4,766 - $5,800 per month (SR-19). Actual salary will be commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval.

Eligibility:
At the time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education Requirements:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a two-year program in electronics technology from an accredited community college or technical school.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. A foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
Verification Requirement:
You must submit evidence of your Bachelor's degree to be credited. Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript showing the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application, or mail a photocopy to the Department of Human Resources, 650 South King Street, 10th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. Copies will not be returned. All documentation must be legible and complete.
Experience Requirement:
Three (3) years of technical work experience involving the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of radio communications or related equipment.
License Requirement:
Possession of a valid driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.
