Your Opportunity
We have an opening for one Public Relations Manager (PRM) on our global PR team, working with our US regional operations and marketing teams. This role requires someone who has serious skills when it comes to PR—a team player who always thinks strategically, can see creative stories and bring them to life, provide counsel to leadership, and respond quickly to shifting priorities.
In this role, you’ll take on media relations, campaign strategy (including digital partnerships), content marketing, and issues/crisis management in partnership with Marketing & PR/Communications colleagues and leadership. Combining your business savvy and PR skills, you’ll manage our distributed team of US-based regional professionals to help lead dynamic campaigns which position our firm to grow.
We’re looking for someone to be based in one of our major US metropolitan offices, with a preference for Los Angeles, Irvine, Sacramento, Chicago, Tampa, Dallas, Houston, Boston, or Philadelphia.
Key Responsibilities
- Media Relations & Research: Foster and grow relationships with the evolving US media landscape. Develop and execute creative outreach strategies which connect our projects and people with broader trends and news cycles.
- Counsellor to Leadership: Work closely with senior internal clients and marketing leadership to align strategies with key business goals.
- Crisis Communications / Business Continuity: Partner with regional leaders in driving crisis communications strategies, including proactive leadership training and compliance with the firm’s Corporate Crisis Management Plan.
- Mentorship: Provide professional development opportunities and support the growth of emerging team members.
- Brand Support – Copywriting & Editing: Champion the Stantec brand and implement the branded voice and style guide.
- Social Media & Digital Strategy: Serve as an advisor for social and digital media strategy to internal clients.
- External New Business Positioning: Collaborate with marketing leaders to set the course for upcoming and/or active top pursuits.
- Collaboration / Brainstorming: Participate in larger PR and Digital Team meetings to discuss initiatives and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
- Benchmarking & Campaign Evaluation: Provide data-driven counsel to leaders and internal clients using the team’s measurement and analytics tools.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of public relations experience in corporate or agency required.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Professional writing (samples required)
- Campaign planning and facilitation
- Building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of media
- Crafting and pitching stories, guest columns, strategic media placements
- Social media strategy and administration
- Crisis communications

- Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
- Fundamental understanding of the evolving media landscape

Salary Range(s):
- $119,000 - $178,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
- Other CA Areas $119,000 - $191,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA
