Expected Pay: 65.00 - 75.00 USD Per Hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Hybrid - typically requiring 3 days onsite
Contract Duration: 6 month contract
HireArt is helping our client find a Technical Writer to work with its engineering team. In this role, you will help write easy-to-understand and enjoyable-to-read documentation for internal stakeholders and customers to understand how to use company automotive software products and services effectively.
As a Technical Writer, you'll:
- Create and/or copywrite artifacts such as product documentation, release notes, API documentation, user guides, and manuals for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain user guides, technical manuals, and other user documentation using AsciiDoc and tools like Mermaid for diagramming.
- Work directly with subject matter experts to gather information, create content, and obtain approvals using strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
- Ensure all documentation is version-controlled using Git and maintain consistency and quality across all documentation.
- Install, run, and document the software in Linux environments to provide accurate and practical user documentation.
- Monitor user feedback to identify gaps in the documentation and take the initiative to address them.
- Collaborate across multiple geographies and time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation for complex software products
- Technical competency to use and experience the software tools for which documentation is being crafted
- Experience with command-line tools, shell scripting, system administration tasks, installing and running complex software systems, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in AsciiDoc
- Strong interest in the automotive industry, software development, and validation tools
- Familiarity with documentation workflows and best practices
- Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts
- Fluency in Japanese (reading and writing) is a plus!

Commitment: This is a 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt and based in Ann Arbor, MI. This position will be hybrid requiring at least 3 days per week onsite.
