Summary

Performs installation, shakedown, testing, maintenance and repair of protection, metering, and control systems and/or equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation of the company's Nuclear Generating Station, Startup Yard, Water Reclamation Facility and Hassayampa Pump Station.

High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of an approved apprenticeship or the equivalency of three years as a qualified journeyman in any of the following disciplines: Electrical, Electronics or Polyphase Meter/Relay Technician. Must meet the minimum standards set forth in ANSI/NAS 3.1 -- 1978, Selection and Training of Nuclear Power Plant Personnel. Must be able to read and comprehend electrical control schematics and wiring diagrams. Must be proficient in AC/DC electrical theory, electronic circuit fundamentals, algebra and trigonometry. Must possess basic computer skills and have the ability to comprehend and utilize various vendor software programs.

Nuclear Requirement

• Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
• This is a condition of employment at PVGS.
• Roles and Responsibilities defined in Policy 1503 and implementing policy guide are applicable to all PVGS employees.
• Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
• This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy's Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, U.S. Export Control Laws). Therefore, this position requires applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Asylee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws.

Major Accountabilities

1. Assists other PR&C technicians in the maintenance, installation, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of protection, metering, various control devices and/or control system problems/failures in the shakedown of new or modified existing equipment.
2. Assists PR&C Tech II and senior team members in the collection and analysis of various data, unit outage preparation, research and documentation.
3. Assists PR&C Tech II and senior team members in verifying and/or modifying Engineering Design Changes to existing prints, schematics and wiring diagrams.
4. Assists in the evaluation and integration of new technology in order to reduce capital and O&M costs and improve overall system reliability.
5. Assists in functional testing of new and modified control schemes in preparation for energizing new or retrofitted electrical equipment.
6. Ability to competently navigate throughout the Site Work Management System (SWMS) to close work orders, initiate CRDRs, write work mechanisms, update tasks, sign on and off of permits, check work/rework history of equipment, etc.
7. Communicates with internal customers to assess their needs and facilitate their understanding of any technical opportunities or limitations that may exist.
8. Completes necessary training to progress to a Level II Technician through OJT and continuing education.
9. Performs maintenance activities in compliance with station procedures and with regulatory oversight from the NRC, INPO and Quality Assurance organizations.
10. Maintains a safe and accident-free environment by practicing safe working procedures and methods.
11. Completes all training and qualifications for radiological controlled access, site access, department specific and job specific qualifications.

Tests are only administered to referred candidates. More information about our tests and the testing process can be found HERE.

A test using a computer with keyboard will be administered.
