The Department of Design at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of UX Design, specializing in User Experience, to begin July 1, 2025. This role will have teaching responsibilities in the Master of UX Design and may also teach in the Master of Software Development program. Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credit hours of lower and/or upper division undergraduate Design courses per academic year.
- Participate in innovation and problem-solving with students.
- Work with the Department Chair, Dean, and other faculty in the Design department regarding curriculum and program development.
- Teach courses in UX Design at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including potential teaching assignments in the Master of Software Development program.
- Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, and service on committees and/or outreach programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field required.
- Demonstrated abilities and employment experience in User Experience (UX) Design and User Interface (UI) Development is preferred.
- Successful teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred (especially at the graduate level).
- Extensive knowledge of UX design principles, user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Experience with software engineering and development processes is highly desirable, given the collaboration between UX Designers and Developers.
- Ability to develop innovative curriculum and appropriate course content and teach under a variety of teaching situations including day, night, and online courses.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and mentoring skills and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with other faculty, staff, and students and contribute to a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues orally and in writing.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2025, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2025. Annual salary of $64,000-$68,000 depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
