Job Overview

The Marketing Communications Specialist role is responsible for the creation, organization, structure, cadence, and delivery of internal communications to employees and external communications to customers. Reporting to the Customer Marketing Manager, this individual contributor develops and deploys outbound business-to-customer communications that share critical and time-based information that supports the implementation of Learning A-Z products and services in a classroom/school/district environment. The Marketing Communications Specialist also supports internal communications intended to educate the Learning A-Z team about new initiatives and information about our platforms, people, and processes. This role works in tandem with the manager to bring together stakeholders at Learning A-Z for the content, context, quality, and timing of these communications.

Job Responsibilities

Own the creation, editing, and organization of key customer-facing communications in alignment with the Learning A-Z brand and business objectives, including monthly newsletters, emails that support the customer lifecycle, and transactional emails.Develop and employ best practices for Learning A-Z communications (maintain a style guide, determine communications structure and timing, map communications across the entire customer lifecycle for LAZ’s primary users).Match messages with the appropriate channels and manage cross-channel deployment to extend reach and impact.Partner with the Customer Marketing Manager to bring diverse internal stakeholders to the table to create a streamlined communications plan and structure through which large-scale communications are developed, approved, and launched.Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure understanding of initiatives.Support the development of KPIs to measure the impact of communications efforts.Manage a monthly newsletter for Learning A-Z employees.Identify and coordinate internal communications that communicate key business information while also reinforcing the values and culture of the organization.Act as the primary point of contact for internal communications; work with the VP of Marketing and Senior Leadership team as needed to address and mitigate business threats and crises through proactive communications.Take on special projects that help optimize communications and communication channels.

Job Requirements

Passion, energy, and empathy to support and drive Learning A-Z’s value, mission, and culture front and center for all employees.Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources, Education, or a related field is preferred.2+ years of experience in corporate communications, brand management, customer marketing, or employee engagement OR other equivalent professional communications experience, including working in a K-6 classroom, school, or district.Exceptional written and oral communication skills with emphasis on simplicity, clarity, and audience-appropriateness, including translating complex, technical information into audience-appropriate messaging.Demonstrated emotional intelligence and the ability to provide recommendations for communication in times of stress and ambiguity.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, adhere to deadlines, and ensure proper buy-in from stakeholders as needed.A knack for turning a phrase and using design elements to enhance messaging.
