Job Summary

The Graphic Designer (Temporary) is a part-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the Lead Designer/Printing Supervisor. The Graphic Designer (Temporary) works closely with the Lead Designer/ Printing Supervisor and other Communications and Marketing Department staff as assigned to develop graphic design that informs and inspires for print, digital and multimedia platforms or revise existing collateral marketing materials, including but not limited to: catalogs, flyers, brochures, magazines, annual reports, posters, business forms and schedules.

The Graphic Designer (Temporary), with keen attention to detail, supports the development of projects from concept to the final design. The Graphic Designer will play a collaborative role in strategic marketing/communications efforts to tell a cohesive and compelling Southwest story in alignment with the mission and vision of the College.

Job Duties

Maximized the reach of the organization through dynamic creative that enhances the college's print, digital, multimedia and video assets.Design duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Charts/infographicsBrochures, flyers, posters, and business cardsCampus signageCreative elements for magazines and other publicationsDigital templates (PowerPoint, online stationery and forms, etc.)Social media graphics, including memes, headers and infographics

Convert designs and print collateral into digital assets,Work with internal and external printers and other vendors throughout the production process to ensure a quality product, as needed;Fabricate signage and other print jobs as assignedAdditional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Graphic Design or related field; one (1) to three (3) years of experience in graphic design and production; excellent communication, graphic design and production skills.Demonstrated hands-on experience with Macintosh hardware and all current versions of Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom; and experience with Microsoft Office applications (word, PowerPoint, etc.).Understanding of graphic techniques in the printing industry and of such core layout and design elements as typography, contrast, alignment, perspective and proximityWell versed in photo editing and illustration productionPreferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
