You will be the lead telecommunications counsel for services to a variety of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (“MSI”) and affiliated business units conducting services or evaluating service opportunities with telecommunications components in the US, Canada, and Latin America.

Job Description

Overview:

The Senior Telecommunications Counsel for Services - US, Canada, and LatAm will be the primary legal counsel to our business units on all telecommunications matters for services in those regions, including any cybersecurity or artificial intelligence obligations that may apply because of the telecommunications component of the services. This attorney will partner closely with leaders within the business units to determine whether customer services are subject to telecommunications regulations and, if yes, lead the business in its compliance with any applicable regulations. This individual will have a broad mandate to advise the business units on all telecommunications matters applicable to their services in these areas, including telecommunications related cybersecurity and artificial intelligence obligations; to lead the creation and implementation of effective compliance programs; and to advise on procurement and customer contractual terms relevant to compliance with telecommunications rules. This attorney will also provide guidance on regulatory developments and advise the business’ participation in any relevant rulemakings. In addition to the business units this attorney will support, this attorney will work closely with other members of the Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs teams.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Advise business stakeholders on telecommunications rules for regulated services in the US, Canada, and Latin America including any developing cybersecurity and artificial intelligence regulations that may apply because of the telecommunications component of the services.Develop regulatory classifications for services that include telecommunications components, identify the scope of compliance obligations, and lead cross-functional groups of internal stakeholders in the creation and implementation of the applicable compliance procedures.Promote effective responses to telecommunications incidents for regulated services by advising on regulatory reporting obligations, leading the implementation of internal reporting processes and procedures, and supporting any post-incident reviews and regulatory inquiries.Assist the Legal team by reviewing, negotiating, and drafting telecommunications terms for services in customer, partner, and supplier contracts, and supporting customer RFP responses.Support the M&A team by conducting telecommunications classification reviews, due diligence, and regulatory risk analyses on any merger or acquisition targets in the covered regions.Develop training materials and online modules to effectively inform and educate business personnel on key telecommunications regulatory obligations related to their services.Provide pragmatic day-to-day and strategic advice to minimize regulatory risks while advancing business goals and initiatives.

Highly Preferred Skills And Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university.Juris Doctor and admission to the bar in at least one US state.10+ years of telecommunications legal and industry experience is highly preferred.Solid ability to assess complex information and engage in critical thinking for strategic guidance.Enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who is results oriented and goal driven.Strong communications skills and an ability to engage cross-functional teams.Works well under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and balances a heavy workload.

Candidate may reside anywhere in the US

Basic Requirements:Juris Doctor and admission to the bar in at least one state.10+ years of experience - preferably in telecommunications legal.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
