UI Engineer II

Meteorcomm, a global telecommunications company that provides data communications solutions and services for the railroad industry is looking for UI Engineer II to support our growing Monitoring and Management Software team based out of the Renton area. We are looking for a talented UI Engineer II to create intuitive and easy to use user experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into elegant, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.​

Successful candidates will have demonstrated working in a fast paced, highly detail oriented software development environment using Scrum / Agile development methodologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience

Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering

Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks

Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders

Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback

Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Sustaining and supporting existing software already in production

Adhering to pre-defined coding standards and contributing to review and enhancement of standards as needed

Practicing Test Driven Development (TDD)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred

2+ years UI experience with proficiency is HTML5, CSS3, Angulas JS, JavaScript, JQuery for rapid prototyping

2+ years experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps

Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools

Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction​

Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders.

2+ years of experience using Object Oriented Programming (OOP) languages

Experience with using coding standards, and employing code review procedures

Experience with producing technical designs and design documentation

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with Agile Methodology a plus

Experience with test tools / harnesses and related software such as Cucumber, Ruby, Python, Google Test

Knowledge of Boost Standard Template Libraries
