Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.
CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. This CFS SPARC Senior NX Designer will report to the Head of 3D CAD Integration and will assist the engineering team by providing design and draft support to create/revise drawings for new/legacy custom parts, designing and/or modifying new/legacy custom components in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, and by reviewing dimensions and tolerances on drawings to ensure their suitability for the intended production process. The candidate will be a team player, collaborate with engineering teams, and have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards producing accurate drawings.
This team member will:
Work within a multi-disciplinary and proven team of top scientists and engineersProvide CAD design support using Siemens NX, version 1980 or later and Teamcenter or Active WorkspaceEstimate time required to complete support activitiesCommunicate designs and design changes with SPARC engineering teamCommunicate with engineering teams to review drawing changes to suit manufacturing process capabilitiesCreate engineering drawings and BOMsProvide mechanical engineering support for resolution of field and manufacturing issues via drawing changesReport on and be accountable for project progress to the Head of 3D CAD IntegrationThe ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical and/or Industrial engineering requiredMinimum of 7 years of experience in creating drawings for mechanical parts using NX CAD systemsExperience creating assembly drawings of mechanisms and drawing BOMsExperience with drawing reviews/checkingUnderstand dimensional tolerance capabilities of forgings, machine parts, and sheet metal componentsProven experience in a fast paced, high transaction environmentProven ability to work well in a team environmentProficiency using CAD to design and document mechanisms in Siemans NX version 1980 or laterProficiency using Team Center or active workspaceKnowledge of component finishing processes such as electro-polishing, plating, heat treatment, paint/powder coating)Candidate will have the technical depth and proven experience to create and review drawings to ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5 standards.Candidate will demonstrate knowledge of GD&T and the use of CAD tools to create/refine designs and drawings for assemblies and custom parts made of sheet metal, weldments, castings, electrical cables/components, and machined partsAdditional experience and/or qualifications:
Ability to type and sit for extended periods of timeWillingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-callWork in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics#LI-Onsite
