Experience editing data in a Geometric Network using ArcMap
Experience reading utility construction documents (design drawings, redlines, as builts, etc.)
Experience using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
Familiarity with editing in ArcGIS Pro
Familiarity with editing data in an ArcGIS Utility Network would be a bonus
JOB SUMMARY The Geographic Information Systems Technician is responsible for providing a high level of technical support for the data conversion and/or creation of spatial data in support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Prepares GIS mapping projects to illustrate water utility projects, qualify findings, and analyze for cause and effect. This position manipulates a variety of related data to produce digital and hardcopy GIS products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS All Specialties: • Performs data entry of textual and geographic information into a Geographic Information Systems. • Performs data input using coordinate geometry, digitizing, file conversions, geoprocessing and georeferencing. • Performs quality control checks to ensure data is accurate and adheres to data standards and procedures. • Reads, reviews, and interprets utility related documents (e.g., block maps, as-built drawings, etc.) • Researches, interprets, and analyzes data and records for projects. • Performs data management, including the organization and maintenance of GIS data, record documents, and other electronic files and data types. • Develops and utilizes Geodatabase (GDB) information for GIS related projects. • pplies knowledge of civil engineering design, municipal infrastructure, utility systems, map projections, and an understanding of coordinate systems. • Performs data validation and verification efforts, including in-office review of record drawings and field visits to verify location and characteristics of assets. • Produces maps and other GIS products using GIS software. • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Management Information Systems or related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License. • bility to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
