Job Description: Communications Officer

Position Overview: As a Communications Officer for the Professional Football League (the "League"), you will play a key role in managing and executing the league's communication strategies and initiatives. You will be responsible for creating and disseminating engaging and informative content to various stakeholders, including the media, fans, and internal staff. Your role will contribute to building and maintaining a positive and influential brand image for the League.Key Responsibilities:

Communication Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the league's goals and objectives.

Collaborate with senior management to define key messaging and communication priorities.

Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance the league's communication efforts.

Media Relations:

Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, interview requests, and press releases.

Build and maintain strong relationships with media representatives, journalists, and influencers.

Prepare and distribute media materials, including press releases, media kits, and statements.

Content Creation and Management:

Create compelling written and visual content for various communication channels, including press releases, website, social media, and newsletters.

Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to gather information and develop engaging stories and features.

Ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all communication materials.

Digital and Social Media Management:

Oversee the league's digital and social media presence, including managing official accounts, content creation, and community engagement.

Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote league events, initiatives, and partnerships.

Monitor social media conversations and proactively respond to comments and inquiries.

Crisis and Issues Management:

Assist in managing crisis situations and issues that may arise, providing timely and accurate communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare crisis communication plans and protocols, ensuring a proactive and effective response in challenging situations.

Work closely with legal, PR, and senior management to address sensitive matters and mitigate reputational risks.

Internal Communications:

Develop and implement internal communication strategies to ensure effective information flow within the league.

Create and distribute internal newsletters, memos, and updates to keep staff and stakeholders informed.

Coordinate and support internal events, such as town hall meetings or employee recognition programs.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Foster positive relationships with league stakeholders, including team owners, players, sponsors, and community partners.

Collaborate with various departments to ensure effective communication and alignment of messaging.

Support league events and initiatives, providing on-site media coordination and facilitating media interviews.

Performance Measurement and Reporting:

Track and analyze communication activities, including media coverage, website traffic, and social media engagement.

Prepare regular reports and present findings to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and areas for growth.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

Proven experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.

Strong media relations and crisis communication expertise.

Proficiency in digital and social media platforms and tools.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Knowledge of the professional football industry and its stakeholders is desirable.
