Works with students in a specific course or laboratory to provide support for the faculty member in charge.2. Assists in grading and recording grades.3. Answers general questions related to the course.4. Attends class.5. May be required to take part in class discussions and complete assigned readings.6. May teach course as the primary instructor under the guidance of a faculty member.7. Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.2. Ability to understand and follow instructions.Required QualificationsThe minimum education required for admittance as a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University. Graduate Teaching Assistants may be required to have completed the course with a minimum grade or have a cumulative GPA above a certain minimum. The recommendation of a faculty member may be required.No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.Preferred QualificationsPhysical DemandsSpecial Conditions for EligibilityA student must have clear or provisional admission to the graduate school and the academic unit, be in good academic standing, and be enrolled in six or more credit hours of graduate courses to be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the fall or spring semesters.
