Content Strategist and Copywriter

to begin work on July 1, 2024.Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 750 students, and rooted in the Goals & Criteria of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.The Content Strategist and Copywriter will be responsible for:Developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy for the School’s website that meets stakeholder needs, provides a cohesive user experience, and follows web best practices.Planning, writing, editing, and publishing content for the School’s website - including informational content for current students, families, and alumnae; marketing content for prospective families; and editorial content that tells the stories of our thriving community.Planning, writing, and collaborating in posting the written content for the School’s social media channels.Collaborating on the content strategy for automated email funnels sent to prospective parents and students. Writing, editing, and formatting content for these emails.Collaborating in concept development and writing scripts for video content, especially focusing on video content for use by the Admissions, Institutional Advancement, and MarComm teams.Maintaining the school’s Style Guide, updating as needed and ensuring written content from the MarComm office and all School partners follows the guidelines.Developing the thematic framework for the Stone Ridge Magazine with the Director and Associate Director of Marketing and Communications. Acting as lead writer and editor, and collaborating with other team members on the design and print process.Collaborating with colleagues, especially with members of the Admissions, Advancement, Arts, to write needed materials and tell School stories.Other copywriting and editing projects as assigned.This individual will maintain content for the School’s FinalSite website, in that capacity, will be responsible for the following functions:Adding/removing/editing pages on the external and internal websites.Supporting faculty, parents, and the community on use of the website tools.Coordinating with the Brand and Design Lead on maintaining current photos, videos, and text on the website.Following digital accessibility guidelines and best practices.Requirements/qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in Digital Design, Marketing, Communications, English or a related field and a minimum of three years of marketing, communications, content strategy, or copywriting experienceStrong written, editorial, and oral communication skills and a demonstrated track record for collaboration, organization, and efficiencyThe ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlinesThorough and precise work habits with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to mission-driven organizationsA demonstrated ability to authentically capture and amplify a wide range of voices and embody a commitment to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusionA nuanced understanding of social media best practices and a keen eye for developing cultural trendsAdvanced skills in website content strategyWriting samples that demonstrate ability in writing for web, email, and feature storiesPreferred but not required skills:Experience in Catholic and/or independent schoolsExperience with and/or certification in digital accessibility and WCAG complianceExperience working with a project management system for workflow managementThis position is a 12-month position.
