Sr. Communications Manager

OverviewThe Senior Manager is responsible for oversight and management of Califia external Communications (both consumer facing and trade).
ResponsibilitiesThis individual will be responsible for building the Califia brand externally and driving news and engagement across Califia’s products and marketing campaigns.
This role is fully integrated into the broader marketing organization and will utilize both internal creative resources and external agency partners to build compelling and newsworthy programs that resonate with consumers.
This hybrid role works in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District office Tuesday through Thursday.
Working in tandem with external public relations agency, develop Califia’s earned messaging strategy, inclusive of public relations, media relations, and crisis communications
Guide PR agency in planning process and building programs to support business objectives and earned media goals
Generate brand and product news that builds awareness of Califia and elevates the brand’s momentum and relevancy
Identify and help prep C-Suite Executives for external speaking engagements, interviews and panels as needed
In collaboration with agency continually evaluate optimal ways to expand quality media reach including PR ambassadors (chefs, trainers, dieticians, etc), paid opportunities, and additional ideas as they arise
Identify external events and partnerships (i.e. partnerships with like-minded brands, events) that can help extend the Califia brand into additional high-profile spaces (i.e. festivals, green rooms/Craft services tables, expanded digital footprint, etc)
Oversee influencer strategy to build programs to partner with key influencers to deliver on business/product objectives
Oversee organic social strategy and content creation
Use analytical tools to evaluate the success of programs and optimize future activities
Communicate sustainability efforts in collaboration with Sustainability team
Manage PR budget including financial forecasting and management of invoices
Oversee creation and budget of Califia swag used for PR/social/influencer activities
Monitor Califia press email, distributing requests accordingly
Manage and coach two direct reports that oversee influencer marketing and social media
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, PR, Marketing or related field
8+ years in communications role with demonstrated ability to deliver PR and Influencer results
Experience managing direct reports with demonstrated coaching abilities
Experience working in consumer-packaged goods, specifically food and beverage
Exceptional writer and communicator who is able to craft press materials/ present in PR environments and/or to executive leadership.
Writing sample may be required.
Creative problem solver with an entrepreneurial and “builder” mindset
Strong collaborator, team player and straight shooter
The expected salary range for this position is between $130,000 - $140,000 per year based on a full-time schedule.
Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual salary.
