POSITION PURPOSE:

Supports the functions of the Communications Office by creating, posting, and updating engaging content for the Beaufort County School District's website and social media platforms; provides ongoing support, training, objectives, and communication management to school district webmasters and social media admins to ensure consistency and brand-management districtwide; and collaborates, designs, and produces creative campaigns that highlight and promote the many accomplishments of the students, teachers, and staff, and district initiatives for the Beaufort County School District. Please note: Candidates invited to interview will be expected to provide a portfolio of work samples applicable to this this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains and ensures that content created for the Beaufort County School District adheres to consistent district brand guidelines and brand messaging.Designs and creates promotional content and marketing campaigns (flyers, graphics, banners, posters, postcards, presentations, etc.) for use across multiple platforms: web, social media, and print.Writes, edits, and proofreads content for the website and social media, and as needed for other departmental collateral.Oversees the district Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn platforms, and assists school social media admins with their school's Facebook profile.Ensures that the district and school websites are ADA compliant and conform to established templates and design protocols.Develops routine and ongoing professional development for school-level webmasters and social media managers, serving as both front-line technical support and the primary point of contact for training.Provides continuous feedback and progress monitoring to all webmasters, including actionable priorities for content creation, UX enhancements, and compliance measures.Prioritizes an intuitive, information, and fully-accessible UX on all district websites and social media platforms.Monitor website and social media analytics to improve overall performance and user engagement.Maintains the district social media calendar to schedule daily, weekly, monthly, and annual post as necessary.Collaborates with communications staff to establish effective internal and external communications objectives.Captures and maintains digital photos and archives for use on websites, social media, and promotional collateral.Assists with the creation of multimedia presentations for senior staff and Superintendent.Researches emerging technologies and creative trends that might support and enhance communication initiatives and provides recommendations that support the role of digital engagement and marketing manager priorities.Develops routine and ongoing professional development and technical training for district and school administration use of communications platforms serving as both front-line technical support and the primary point of contact for training, implementing review and approval processes for content.ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Communications, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited college or university with major study in graphic design, interactive/digital media, journalism, marketing, English, educational technology, or other communications-intensive discipline.Prior knowledge and experience working with brand guidelines and brand implementation.Ability to examine websites and ensure a positive UX and is able to troubleshoot potential issues and provide solutions that enhance the UX.Considerable experience working on websites that require frequent updating of content.Prior knowledge of web standards and information architecture.Excellent communications skills and ability to establish and consistently maintain the tone and voice of the Beaufort County School District across its multiple platforms.Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.Self-starter who is also comfortable collaborating and working within a team setting.Knowledge of best practices for effective social media engagement.Experience with Adobe Create Suites (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator).

EXPERIENCE :

Must be able to work under stress, and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activities and functions of the role.Must be able to establish and manage short and long-term priorities and initiatives.Must be able to make sound decisions in routine situations and receive direction from immediate supervisor in non-routine situations.Must be able to uphold district policies and procedures for internal and external communications, and gather, organize, and present information in a clear and accurate manner.Is knowledgeable of web publishing/CMS; experience with Finalsite a plus.Is knowledgeable of social media archiving; experience with Civic Plus (Archive Social) a plus.Has the ability to teach and coach school webmasters in performing their website and social media work.Has the ability to maintain and manage simple databases (i.e.: social media platform admins, web admins, listservs, etc.)Is skilled in digital photography.Is analytical and able to improve content to meet digital and print publishing industry standards and modify content for distribution via new technologies.Has a strong understanding of website architecture, principles of UX, basic HTML, troubleshooting broken links (404s), optimizing images and files for downloading, SEO, file naming, and archiving.Must be knowledgeable regarding ADA compliance.
