Summary Description: This position ensures new and existing Whataburger restaurants are developed and maintained in accordance with established Company standards. Primarily responsible for ensuring that engineering and architectural design criteria meet standards on all projects through proper process controls and document review. Verifies business vision is planned and implemented. Validates site specifications and requirements are met. Maintains accountability for successful completion of all quality assurance deliverables associated with a project. Works with cross functional teams in new kitchen designs and incorporation into both new and future prototype designs. Leads the Design Team in Real Estate both from an Architectural and Civil Site design perspective. Provides both design and budget leadership leading company prototype maintenance and innovation.Responsibilities:

Develops and implements quality assurance standards, processes and controls for new construction and enhancement projects.Develops methods for inspection and testing of design projects.Analyzes engineering and design specifications and observes processes to develop and install quality control methods.Maintains accountability for the successful completion of all Q/A deliverables associated with development projects.Maintains current knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and other regulatory requirements.Attends design sessions, reviews functional specifications, and develops and designs functional test cases. Reports problems and makes recommendations for solutions.Audits design project files for compliance and accuracy.Participates in quality decisions to assess adequacy to ensure progression in the next phase of delivery.Develops overall operating criteria to ensure proper implementation of design procedures.Reviews design, change specifications, and plans against contractual or process requirements.Completes special projects as requested by the Vice President of Real EstatePrepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from design audits.Maintains knowledge of Real Estate contracts and proposals, litigation related to slips and falls, and processes for critical deadlines. Works with real estate on condemnations and right of way acquisitions. Represents Whataburger before legal authorities and provides expert testimony.Conducts tests to ensure design specifications are consistently executed.Performs formal, documented audits of technical related activities in accordance with documented design procedures.Works with Real Estate Directors and Director of Construction to develop store weeks' deliverables.Assumes additional responsibilities as assignedEducation:

Bachelor's Degree in, construction, engineering, architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience in real estate, engineering, construction, or architectureExperience:

9+ years' experience in architectural design/Civil Engineering3+ years' experience in hands on project execution required5+ years' leadership experienceStrong project management experience9+ years' experience as project or program directorKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of current construction and site development techniquesProficient in interpreting architectural renderings, strongly preferredExperienced in construction and developmentIn-depth understanding of building codesSolid understanding of design techniques and familiarity with engineering terminologyMechanical aptitude with ability to complete complex mathematical calculationsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exitsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formAbility to learn new graphic software to compliment the presentation of CAD softwareProficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio (as applicable)Proficiency in JD Edwards and Workday (as applicable)Advanced ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions while motivating staffAdvanced ability to create and implement given strategic directionAbility to work in a team environmentProfessional Certification:

Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Civil Engineering preferredLicensed Registered ArchitectWorking Conditions/Travel Requirements:

Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilitiesMust be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needsMust be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessarySome travel, both locally and long distances, (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations may be necessary
