IntroductionThe Economist is seeking a rockstar Director of Performance Marketing with deep hands-on expertise in paid search and paid social. This newly-created role will lead a growing team of channel marketing experts who are responsible for ambitious acquisition targets across The Economist Group.They should have an obsessive attention to detail, can excel at setting strategy, mentoring a team, but also loves rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done. They aren’t afraid to set a high bar for themselves and their team.The expected base salary for this position ranges from $90,000.00 - $140,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Rather, salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.AccountabilitiesKey Responsibilities:+ Directly oversee the management of biddable media campaigns and ad accounts across multiple platforms, including but not limited to Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Outbrain and Display Networks+ Lead and mentor a team of in-house media buyers, providing in-platform strategic guidance and support in campaign planning, execution, and optimizations+ Drive increased ROI and maximise budget efficiency and ROAS+ Monitor campaign performance metrics closely, identify trends and insights, and make data-driven recommendations for optimization and improvement+ Develop and implement innovative performance marketing strategies tailored to meet the objectives and KPIs of the business, ensuring platforms performance aligns with growth expectations, delivering measurable results+ Conduct comprehensive analysis of campaign performance, generate detailed reports, and present findings and insights+ Utilize analytics tools and methodologies to derive actionable insights and drive continuous improvement in campaign performanceExperience, skills and professional attributesSkills and Personal Attributes+ Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to use data for problem-solving+ Build and mentor a team that can deliver excellence+ Insanely curious and obsessively passionate about driving improvements at every conversion touchpoint+ Growth mindset, self-starter who can power through challenges and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment+ Excellent attention to detail and project management skills+ Superb work ethic and positive, can-do attitude+ Ability to think holistically and work cross-functionally+ High levels of organization, with strong planning skills and the ability to prioritize a large workload according to ever-changing business needsQualifications and Experience+ Extensive experience in performance marketing+ Experience in in-house biddable media buying (Google / Meta / LinkedIn / TikTok / Outbrain / other)+ Proven track record of creating, planning, and executing customer acquisition campaigns that drive transformative business results+ Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams of digital marketing professionals+ Deep understanding of digital advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Google SA360, Google DV360, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and other Display Demand Side Platforms.+ Exceptional analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and internal teams.+ Results-oriented, with a passion for driving performance+ Experience transitioning media buying to an in-house buying model is a preferenceJob LocationsUnited States-NY-New YorkID 2024-10060Function Marketing
