The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a full-time **_Communications Associate_** to support the communication efforts of Health Policy Research Scholars (HPRS), a national leadership development program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) for doctoral students who want to use their research to advance health and equity. The position is term-limited through August 31, 2029, when the HPRS program is expected to conclude.The Communications Associate will help plan, develop, and manage the HPRS communications strategy, providing communications-related activities and resources to the HPRS staff and program participants. They will elevate visibility and build positive awareness of the program through a variety of mediums, including digital, print, videos, and social media.The Communications Associate will report to the HPRS program’s Deputy Director but will share a close link to the HPM department’s Senior Director of Communications and Marketing. They will also work closely with HPM faculty and staff connected to HPRS. The position is hybrid with flexible remote workdays.**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**+ Develop and oversee the HPRS communication strategy and corresponding activities.+ Help maintain HPRS online platforms by developing innovative and compelling ideas and content (e.g., video, photography, tweets, text, blogs)+ Maintain the HPRS website by keeping information accurate and up to date.+ Use social media platforms to promote scholar and alumni work, highlight positive aspects of the program, and reach potential applicants.+ Manage communications and promotion for the Call for Applications (CFA) cycle.+ Track scholar and alumni achievements.+ Provide writing services to scholars and program alumni (e.g., op-ed support).+ Provide support for communications-related courses.+ Provide general communications support and technical assistance for HPRS staff.+ Support the development and writing of internal newsletters, design slides for presentations, and assist with other marketing materials.+ Assist team with program dissemination-related efforts.+ Work with vendors, as needed.+ Ensure all communications comply with the HPRS branding guidelines.+ Other duties as assigned.**Skills, Knowledge & Abilities**+ Interest in public health, public health policy, and strategic health communication.+ Excellent technical communications skills, both written and verbal, and ability to communicate to a range of audiences.+ Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail.+ Ability to understand and synthesize information to generate key messages and calls to action.+ Ability to appropriately communicate with external partners.+ Experience with social media and website content generation and management.+ Experience leading/managing projects and ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.+ Ability to work quickly with shifting deadlines.+ Excellent work attitude and habits, including strong interpersonal skills, reliability, flexibility, self-motivated and the ability to think and work independently and as a team.+ Ability to think creatively and critically in problem-solving and project implementation.+ Ability to work through ambiguous situations and use sound judgment for decision making.+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.+ Experience using web content management systems (e.g., WordPress).+ Experience with design software/programs (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud).**Minimum Qualifications**+ Bachelor's Degree in related field.+ Four years related experience.+ Advanced degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.**Preferred Qualifications**+ Master’s Degree in related field.Classified Title: Communications AssociateRole/Level/Range: ATP/04/PDStarting Salary Range: $62,300 - $109,000 Annually (Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Full TimeSchedule: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am – 5 pmExempt Status: ExemptLocation: Hybrid/School of Public HealthDepartment name: ​​​​​​​Health Policy & Management -IHSPPersonnel area: School of Public HealthEqual Opportunity Employer:Johns Hopkins University is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other occupationally irrelevant criteria.
