Welcome to Lightspeed LA, the first U.S.-based, AAA game development studio for Tencent Games. Lightspeed LA is focused on building open-world games that emphasize an ambitious living world, sophisticated player-driven gameplay, and mature, thoughtful storytelling. We are developing the first in a series of genre-defining titles.

About this position at Lightspeed LA

As an experienced Principal Writer on the Narrative team at Lightspeed LA, you'll play a key role in crafting the game's open-world narrative experience, imagining characters, mission content, and contributing to the world bible for a new I.P. We want someone who's an amazing writer, passionate about storytelling in games (and understands the advantages and disadvantages of working within the medium) and has an exceptionally high quality bar. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new studio dedicated to telling impactful, mature stories.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Lead Writer and Studio Narrative Director to develop open-world content, open-world missions, and help write and maintain the game's world bible.Create unforgettable characters, stories and settings for missions, plus other narrative content.Brainstorm and actively collaborate with design and art to create best-in-class missions and other content.Write high-quality cinematic scripts, mission scripts, systemic VO, and narrative-related documentation.Requirements:

8+ years of games industry experience.Contributed to at least one shipped game.Strong desire to create compelling open-world narrative experiences.Comfortable with spreadsheets, Final Draft, and other writing software.Passion for gaming and a firm understanding of how narrative works in video games.Self-motivated. Able to receive and give constructive feedback.

The base pay range for this position in the state(s) above is $127,780 to $234,430 per year. Actual pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as other medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the specific position offered.
