Recommended candidates will be required to complete criminal background check, including Act 34 Background Check and Act 151 (Child Abuse) Background Check and Federal Criminal (FBI) clearance prior to appointment.Posting DetailsPosition DetailsPosting Number I02252Classification Title Music Marching Band Instructor | Temporary Part-Time Fall 2024 | I02252Working Title Music Marching Band Instructor | Temporary Part-Time Fall 2024 | I02252Employee Group FacultyBargaining Unit APSCUFLocation Main CampusDepartment MusicPay Rate Instructor, step 1 (per dean)Employment Type Temporary PTWork ScheduleMWF 4:00-6:00p.m., Saturdays as needed for football games.Position Summary InformationPosition SummaryDirect Marching Pride, including:Supervision of student worker, graduate assistant, and student truck drivers;Inventory management, distribution, repair and maintenance for instruments and uniforms;Cycling of equipment for repairs;Managing first aid/emergency procedures;Organizing large group student travel (on and off campus),Event scheduling,Interfacing with facilities management,Serving on the Game Day Planning Committee – authoring drill revisions, modifying pregame and halftime show drill to accommodate special events/guests,Organize playoffs schedules,Working with student leadership, organize/host the annual high school band day,Working with student leadership, organize/host the annual alumni band day,Coordinate Activities of volunteers and supplemental staff – percussion and guard instructors.Minimum QualificationsMinimum of a Masters degree in Music Education, Instrumental Conducting, or Music Performance and evidence of significant public school and/or higher education marching band directing experience.Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as it relates to marching band.Demonstrated commitment to the education of diverse populations.Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration are required (virtual or face-to-face).Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching at the college levelPosting Detail InformationPosting Date 06/05/2024Closing DateOpen Until Filled YesRespect for Individuals in the CommunitySlippery Rock University provides an environment that respects, encourages, and promotes the talents and contributions of all.
