The Oswego County E-911 Department has an immediate opening for a part-timeGeographic Information Specialist to be responsible for the development,implementation, maintenance and analysis of geographic information systems (GIS). The incumbent will work with County departments and agencies to incorporate the useof spatial information into their operations, including the design of customizedapplication and product training and assistance. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or Geography;OR bachelor’s degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Geology, or closely relatedfield, including at least 15 credit hours in Geographic Information Systems; ORbachelor’s degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Geology, or closely related field and six (6) months of experience administering a Geographic Information System or other computerized mapping and assessment system; OR associates degree in Geographic Information Systems and two (2) years of experience administering a Geographic Information System or other computerized mapping and assessment system.This title has been approved to be filled without the need to take an exam through the HELP Program. Candidates appointed permanently to this title will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP program ends.
