JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description INTRODUCTION:Main Gallery is a summer program implemented by Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services providing meaningful employment in the arts for young people of Racine. POSITION PURPOSE Main Gallery is a summer program implemented by Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services providing meaningful employment in the arts for young people of Racine. Main Gallery artist\'s assistants work alongside professional artists in leading a group of teens through a Main Gallery artistic project from conception to completion. Will directly report to the artist in residence and the program supervisor. Work schedule: Mid-June to Early August Monday - Thursday with availability for possible weekend hours (20-25 hours per week) Essential Duties Maintains records and reports on assigned programs. Maintains a consistent and reliable attendance record. Maintains records of attendance and monitors youth work hours. Reports discipline problems. Gathers and stores supplies. Assists artist in residence with instruction. Performs related work as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor II, as some programs vary. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be currently enrolled in college coursework. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Experience working in the fields of education, recreation and arts education will be considered a plus. Experience working with youth/at risk youth is desired. Must have own transportation. Supplemental Information PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION: The employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Walking, standing, sitting, keyboarding, talking, listening, reading. Ability to lift chairs and tables, and to deliver heavy materials and equipment.
