Salary Grade: G06Minimum Midpoint Maximum$74,796 - $100,975 - $127,152

Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

SUMMARY:Under general supervision, installs, configures, and troubleshoots local area computer networks and associated assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration, and installationInstalls and maintains local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiringEvaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendationsCoordinates installation of hardware and software by othersProvides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usageMonitors and maintains network stabilityCommunicates and coordinates network schedule, backups, and downtime to usersCoordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications servicesPrepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layoutsCoordinates work with other departments within the CompanyAssists other information systems (IS) personnel with project and problem resolutionProvides network availability to entire Company for continued ability to succeed in marketplaceCOMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of data communications principals and interfacesKnowledge of telecommunications principals and practiceAbility to use the protocol analyzer to troubleshoot and examine network protocolsAbility to use Network Monitoring tools to gather Network statistics and interpret into meaningful informationAbility to identify and evaluate Network needs to justify and recommend solutionsAbility to identify and communicate network impact possible due to proposed or planned application installation or network operating system changesProvide analysis, planning, and design for Network projectsAbility to oversee and implement all phases of project management from site planning, to installation, migration, and implementationAbility to provide technical assistance on project planning for IS co-workersAbility to effectively handle many concurrent assignments with minimum guidelines pertaining to objectives, priorities or technical approachQUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possesses in-depth knowledge of Ethernet 802.3 Specifications; TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) suite; and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) for management of Network devicesWorking knowledge of OSI (Open System Interconnection) reference model with emphasis on bottom three layersIn-depth knowledge of LAN topologies such as switching, fast-Ethernet and Vlans and of WAN topologies such as Frame/Relay, HDLC and Point-to-PointANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

SUMMARY:Under direct supervision, provides for the operation and maintenance of the corporate local area network and wide area network.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stages and installs all network equipment including routers, HUBs and switches, and cabling requirements for network connectivity of servers, routers, and switchesNetworks equipment software configuration such as switch and router IOS configurationsTroubleshoots routine LAN/WAN customer issues using required sophisticated troubleshooting tools such as Network Protocol AnalyzersProvides sound technical design options and recommendations to customers on small to medium projectsTests network components and applications for reliability, functionality, and throughputCOMPETENCIES:
