POSITION TITLE: Library Assistant

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma.

2. A reasonable degree of proficiency in typing, working knowledge of basic office procedures, and the operation of common office equipment and machines.

3. Must be computer literate.

4. One year's experience as a secretary, or formal training in business or office practice.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administrator may find appropriate and acceptable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a designated assignment.

2. Operates business machines or related office equipment.

3. Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed.

4. Maintains filing system for catalog cards.

5. Performs record-keeping tasks associated with the specific position.

6. Assists staff and students in locating and using equipment and materials.

7. General library duties including preparing new books and stocking, checking books in and out, mending books, clipping newspaper ads, etc.

8. Keeps an organized system for books on shelves.

9. Computer duties including data entry, run daily overdue list, daily backup, assisting students with CD-Rom computers, etc.

10. Bookkeeping duties including collecting money for overdue books, balance cash drawer, make deposits, etc.

11. Performs such other duties as directed or required.

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work hours and salary to be established by the Board of Education. Shall receive the benefits of sick leave, retirement, the usual policies which apply to classified personnel, and vacation time established by the Board policies. All employees are required by Colorado law to undergo a fingerprint/background check by Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policies which apply to classified personnel.
