Job postingsGraphic Artist IIBack to search results Apply now Job no: 961206Work type: Support StaffPay Grade:11Major Administrative Unit / College:Division Of Student Life And EngagementDepartment:Sle Senior Vice President 40000833Sub Area:AP- ProfessionalsSalary:Salary Commensurate with ExperienceLocation: East LansingCategories: Administrative/Business/Professional, PR/Media/Graphics/Comm/Fund Raising, Residential and Hospitality Services, Administrative Professionals- AP, Full Time (90-100%), Union, Remote-FriendlyPosition SummaryDesign printed and digital publications and promotional materials for the Division of Student Life & Engagement; strategically communicate with a diverse array of audiences throughout the MSU community; work collaboratively with editors, writers and brand managers to determine desired strategic outcomes and design effective marketing materials to support that outcome; review client requests as assigned; collaborate with clients to reach intended outcomes; provide recommendations for the most effective strategic design and marketing; attend weekly production meetings to provide updates on assigned work; train and supervise student designers; review the work of other designers and provide constructive feedback; work with the operations manager to find creative yet affordable deliverables for client requests.Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in graphic or advertising design or commercial art; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in printing, typography, photography, electronic prepress, printing processes, such as pre-flighting electronic files, prepress software applications, designing, typesetting and printing artwork, computer graphics and web page design software, the properties and uses of art materials and technical drawing and layout, ability to investigate and solve or recommend solutions to technical problems relating to electronic prepress; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired QualificationsFluency in Adobe Creative and Production Suite programs; experience in photography or videography; strong communication and active listening skills; ability to speak and write to convey information effectively and maintaining appropriate content/tone for the needs of the audience; ability to maintain professional relationships effectively with team members and clients; attention to detail; creative problem solving abilities to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems.
