Job Summary:

Provides customer service in fulfillment of library circulation transactions and general inquiries. Uses library systems and productivity software to manage projects and circulation activities, including maintenance of records.

Job Duties:

Provide quality and responsive services to patrons in-person, by phone, via email, and through other methods of communication. Circulate library resources, including physical materials and technologies. Manage patron records, including management of overdue or lost materials, in library computer system and college computer system. Create and develop reports to assist library administration with assessment or other needs. Assist users with locating and using library resources. Provide basic computer and research assistance and refer patrons to professional librarians as needed. Open and/or close library facilities in a timely and secure manner. Fulfill and maintain Inter-Library Loan (ILL) services, to include copyright compliance. Create library signage and displays. Process and maintain course reserve materials. Collaborate with Library Administrative Services to acquire materials. Perform basic copy cataloging and processing of materials. Execute other technical services tasks as needed. Participate in the planning of library and department operations. Ensure compliance with college and library policies and procedures. Maintain a good working relationship with library and college personnel, including timely and professional communications. Participate in professional development activities. Travel occasionally to other college locations. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.One year of customer or public service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree or higher.Two years of related experience, such as library, general clerical, or customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to provide excellent customer service in all formats for all members of the Volunteer State Community College community.Proficiency in the use of computers and productivity software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Flexibility; ability to adapt to changes.Problem-solving skills and strong attention to details.Ability to multi-task in a calm, professional manner.Ability to work independently, within a team, and with minimal supervision.

Pay Rate:

$34,736 - $41,684 annual salary depending on experience
