Are you knowledgeable of current and classic materials, in all formats? Our Library system is in need of a Collection Development Librarian, capable to adapt to various and changing duties, as required. This position is responsible for central selection of adult materials that reflect and anticipate the needs of the public. You will also be responsible for ongoing collection analysis and coordination of system-wide de-selection of materials. Examples of key areas of interest are listed, but not limited, to the items below.Collection Development/Maintenance:+ Integrate research on circulation patterns and trends into forward-thinking planning and purchasing process.+ Develop and implement system-wide collection development activities in all formats.+ Participate in establishing policies around materials acquisition and disposal.+ Make acquisition decisions consistent with policy.+ Evaluate materials and resources in various formats to develop and maintain the collection.+ Maintain an in depth and current knowledge of the collection.+ Ensure the maintenance of the collection through coordinated de-selection and replacements.+ Select and compile orders for new and replacement materials.+ Identify, select, and maintain special collections.+ Monitor the materials budget and keep track of monies spent and encumbered.+ Develop and maintain a collection of reference resources to meet community needs.+ Establish and apply selection and evaluation criteria to build a collection of high quality and relevant resources for Books and Digital materials.+ Develop and manage the library’s collections of electronic resources and provide distributed access to them.+ Select, organize and maintain the library’s collection of digital resources.Customer Service:+ Develop and implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by internal and external customers, delivered with the utmost courtesy and respect.+ Meet with vendors and book publishers.+ Promote the value of products and services within the library and throughout the community.+ Use web tools and social networking communities to engage and provide services to users.+ Develop strategies and sources to stay well informed as a readers’ advisor.About the ScheduleWork Hours+ Full-Time, 40 hours per week.+ Monday - Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.+ Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.+ On rare occasion employees may be re-assigned to a different work location (other than original assignment) within the library system to meet changing service needs. All employees are expected to participate in the hours of operation, for the Library location, including daytime, evening and weekend hours.About YouMinimum Qualifications+ Master's degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.+ -OR- Bachelor’s degree and enrolled in an MLS/MLIS program with the ability to obtain an MLS/MLIS within 12 months of hirePreferred Qualifications:+ One year of experience in a library environment.Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
