Rainbow Labs OverviewRainbow Labs is a nonprofit with a mission to embolden Queer and Gender Nonconforming Youth to discover, curate, and experiment with the elements of a fulfilled life through community building and the lived experiences of mentors. We are launching a new kind of youth programming for QGNC youth by QGNC youth. Youth aged 12-18 will have access to different types of mentoring activities throughout the year. Youth development professionals and mentors both conduct activities virtually and in person.Position SummaryAre you interested in gaining professional experience, empowering communities, and making a lasting difference? Join The Rainbow Labs team for a year and serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA! In partnership with schools and after school programs across Los Angeles County, Rainbow Labs will offer a free mentoring program for LGBTQ+ youth ages 12-18. The Marketing and Development Associate VISTA service will go from August 12th, 2024 to August 2025 . VISTA’s will be expected to work 30-35 hours per week and will work from home about 75% of the time.Position DescriptionThe Marketing and Development Associate VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this growing nonprofit organization. The VISTA will support marketing and development by creating new and innovate ways to engage funders, community, and potential partners.Primary ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Executive Director, Founders, and Rainbow Labs’ Board to expand general revenue by 20%, which will in turn support and increase our capacity to offer programs and expand our reachContribute to and collaborate with the Rainbow Labs Program Team to develop a strategy for increasing program visibility, outreach, and awareness throughout the country.Create and lead a year-long marketing plan from September 2024 to September 2025.Create content and support telling the story of Rainbow Labs, its members, and mentors via social media and newsletters.Streamline marketing operations to effectively reach youth participants, mentors, and other stakeholders.QualificationsPassionate commitment to Rainbow Labs’ mission and visionBachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentExceptional writing skillsStrong communication skillsStrong organizational skillsHigh degree of initiative and spirit of servicePrevious experience with systems such as MailChimp, HootSuite, or Canva, a plus
