Hood Container Corporation is growing our corrugated converting operations in Houston Texas! We are searching for a highly motivated employee to grow their career and take an active leadership role as a Graphic

Designer.

This Designer will utilize their skills to support the Corrugated Converting Operation, including Flexo Folder Gluers, and Rotary Die Cutters. This person will also have responsibility with transitioning design documents and providing plant support as needed in Customer Service, Quality & Sales.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Model Hood Container Guiding Principles and Leadership CharacteristicsCollaborate with other Hood Container Facilities to learn best practices & supportComply with company policies and procedures for all assigned rolesUnderstanding software required to prepare files; Adobe Pro, Enfocus Switch, GMG Color, Tilia Phoenix, HP and others.Additional duties as assigned by management.Designer

Create mock-ups/samples for customer approval and validation including providing layouts for CAD lines and print positioning as required.Review and approve cutting dies and generate corresponding mylars for production.Maintain supplies as needed for job functions: mock-ups, mylars, samples, etc.Design all forms of POP displays, graphic packaging, and industrial packaging.Develop distribution and in-store setup instruction sheets for displays and retail packaging to support client education.Initiate actions to prevent problems and contribute solutions when a problem is identified as well as document quality problems, verify implementation of solutions, and control further processing.Understand and interpret documents such as packaging design specifications, operating instructions including training and procedure manuals.Maintain process of recording, specifications, and revisions to provide accuracy.Accompany Sales and creative teams on design-related meetings and presentations as needed.Ensure design specialties and creative execution meet manufacturing specifications and budgets.Plant Support

Provide project management assistance for new items.Assist in managing tooling quotes, receiving, and verifying tooling matches expectations.Train to provide back up support for Customer ServiceCollaborate with Operations stakeholders in implementing and maintain Quality Management System and Safe Quality Food CertificationEXPERIENCE

Experience in graphic, pre-press, or structural designExperience working with design software, such as, Adobe CS-6, Artios CADExperience working in a manufacturing environment highly preferredExperience working in the corrugated industry highly preferredLANGUAGE SKILLS

Well Developed written and verbal communication skillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, operating instructions, and training and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure.Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram (graphic) form.Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited information or standardization exists.TECHNICAL SKILLS

Application knowledge and skill for computer data entryApplication knowledge of products and production processesUnderstanding and application of quality standards, prefer experience with Safe Quality Food (SQF) RequirementsPHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees are regularly required to walk and talk and hear, stand, and sit.Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hot, cold, or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.Ability to wear Personal Protection Equipment to include steeled toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
