Definition of Class

This position assists the Interior Designer with creating preliminary plans and design concepts for University projects. The incumbent collaborates with internal and external constituents to determine project requirements and analyze design concepts, assists with determining scope of work and obtaining cost estimates, provides support in creating CAD plans, and stays abreast of the latest resources and design trends.

Examples of Work Performed

Assists in the creation of preliminary plans and design concepts for internal and external projects.Collaborates with clients to analyze objectives and interior design scope based on their needs.Creates room layouts and furniture specifications based on the design scope.Provides design, clerical, and administrative support to interior design staff.Assists in securing pricing/proposals for construction of the designed work.Maintains knowledge of space planning, floor finish plans, and elevations.Assists in maintaining the interior design sample resource materials and client records.Assists with installations, coordinating deliveries, and providing post-installation follow up activities.Provides support in creating sourcing materials and CAD plans for various projects.Serves as a liaison with design professionals and industry providers.Assists in handling communication with clients through telephones, emails, and official letters.Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

Assists with the creation of preliminary plans and design concepts.Utilizes CAD standards and provides support in creating project plans.Assists with determining scope of design work.Serves as liaison with design professionals and industry providers.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from an accredited four-year college or university.

AND

Experience:One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.

Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
