The primary responsibility of this position is supporting Michigan Tech’s alumni and donor information systems and working closely with users to understand their data needs. This position will create reports and execute queries using Ellucian CRM Advance, WebFOCUS and SQL. In addition, this position will serve as a key contributor on large, complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)• Acquire and maintain operational and functional knowledge of all aspects of CRM Advance , and all other systems required to support the departments serving alumni and donors.• Provide ad-hoc reports using Ellucian CRM Advance, WebFOCUS and SQL.• Provide Banner & CRM Functional/Technical support.• Assist with the analysis of business processes, define and document business process requirements through conversion to CRM Advance.• Work closely with the Executive Director for Advancement Services to raise new issues, communicate the status of issues, and seek direction as needed.• Assist with maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of CRM Advance and all systems required to support the responsibilities of Advancement and Alumni Engagement.• Design, implement and modify reports that address analytical, functional, and regulatory needs.• Create and maintain user documentation for processes, procedures, and reports.• Conduct research and produce ad hoc reports (benchmarking, donor analysis, etc.)• Provide user support with core applications.• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.• Provides system testing for new implementations, upgrades, and update/fix patches.• Validate and monitor data for discrepancies.Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems or technically related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.Required Experience (minimum requirements)● Advanced knowledge with personal computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.● Experience with SQL or other standard query languages.● Experience using Banner &/or CRM software.● Experience using WebFOCUS or other report writing software to produce reports for delivery to end users.● Experience in a higher education environment.Desirable Education and/or Experience● Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.● Three years of experience with emphasis on business systems or process analysis in an information technology environment.● Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365.● 2+ Years Writing Oracle SQL, MySQL, or equivalent software environment.● Ability to self-motivate, take initiative, and endure leadership skills to seek out work and accomplish goals.● Ability to focus on and comprehend information, learn new skills and abilities, assess a situation, and seek or determine appropriate resolution, accept managerial direction, and feedback, and tolerate and manage stress.Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)● Demonstrated ability to analyze data, processes, and complex situations to determine the best course of action.● Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.● Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities and objectives while meeting deadlines.● Excellent interpersonal, customer service and oral/written communication skills and the ability to document business needs in both technical and non- technical terminology at a variety of skill levels.● Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy, precision, and attention to detail.● Demonstrated ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information.● Demonstrated ability to deliver results effectively either working independently or on a team.● Demonstrated ability to learn new software.● Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.● Integrate safety practices into daily activities.Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities● Demonstrated understanding of customer relationship management systems, relational databases, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and standard query languages.● Experience working with all levels of staff.● Ability to learn all federal, state, and institutional requirements and laws impacting the delivery of services and systems.● Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience with alumni and donor administrative and systems processes.● Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience using statistical analysis tools. Provides analysis that leads to actionable business insights.● Experience with visualization software such as Tableau, or Power BI.● Proactive approach to handling data issues and offer solutions that promote data consistency & governance.● Advanced experience in writing SQL queries against relational databases for standard and custom reports.● Ability to streamline workflows and identify automation possibilities.● Advanced Excel functionalities such as VLOOKUP, IF statements, Pivot Tables, Graphs, Charts, and data validation.● Familiarity with Google Workspace.● Knowledge of scripting languages (SQL, Python).● Ability to recommend policies, document risks, and propose solutions to management and senior leadership.● Knowledge of basic data architecture & design within a relational database.
