SENIOR DATA VISUALIZATION DEVELOPER

position.

WORK SCHEDULE

100% FTE – 40 hours per week

Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Identify and articulate business and technical impacts of user requirements to all constituents.

Assume responsibility for the quality and delivery of technology business solutions.

Develop ad hoc queries, data sources, and reports to support the business.

Collaborate with Analytics leadership to help set direction, standards, and processes for a team of Developers.

Work with Business Analysts and customers to gather, analyze, and document Visualization requirements.

Design, code, test, and maintain Visualization reporting and analytics objects, including extracts, utilizing industry best practices.

Provide production support and respond to help desk tickets related to the Visualizations, both Analytics Development created as well as Affiliated Developer created Visualizations.

Mentor and provide guidance, direction, and support to other developers.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine IT Services (ITS)

is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children’s University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Children’s). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You provide technical guidance, establishing oneself as an advisor to various cross-functional Visualization stakeholders.

You evangelize current and future ITS Analytics Data Visualization capabilities when assisting customers.

You perform design and code reviews of developed solutions for quality assurance.

You follow ITS Analytics standards and change control processes, with a focus on enterprise build and long-term system maintenance.

You design and develop metrics, reports, and analyses to drive key business decisions.

You provide scheduled and ad hoc mentoring and professional development to team members.

You maintain a high level of awareness of the current and future development technologies and best practices and fully understand the various organizational structures of UW Medicine and their unique requirements, utilizing and assisting leadership in communicating these best practices.

You coordinate with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Structured Quality Language (SQL) Administrators, Data Warehouse Administrators, and others to understand and document technical requirements, capabilities, and limitations.

You prioritize tasks with guidance from designated lead, supervisor, or project manager.

You research questions and issues involving Production Visualization solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Math, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.

4+ years of overall experience to include the below.

4+ years recent healthcare or IT experience.

3+ years’ experience with data visualization (such as

Tableau or Power BI

).

3+ years' experience with SQL to write complex, highly optimized, queries across large volumes of data, database design, data warehouse design, query performance tuning, and writing stored procedures.

Strong applied experience leading small to medium scale projects working through the complete development lifecycle for analytics solutions including reports and applications, or interfaces.

Familiarity with Epic Clarity Data Model and Reporting.

Complete and demonstrable understanding of reporting and application development best practices.

High level of awareness of the current and future visualization programming and development technologies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.#monster
