Position Overviewis a dynamic portal to all things Los Angeles Zoo and serves many different audiences. The Web Content Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Zoo's website, with an emphasis on creating and updating content that increases awareness and brand visibility, drives traffic to the site, and communicates the breadth of the Zoo, including its mission and goals, animal residents, special events and ticket sales, and the visitor experience.Essential ResponsibilitiesContinuously monitors Zoo website content for accuracy and timeliness, updating as needed.Maintains the vision and integrity of the design and user-experience of the entire Zoo web site, with an emphasis on creating actionable content targeted to key demographics.Formulates digital strategy plan/calendar, sets goals, and monitors, analyzes, and reports on site metrics, visitor statistics and usage patterns to determine site effectiveness and recommend improvements.Handles requests for new or updated web content from multiple divisions, including special events, marketing, membership, development, education, PR, admissions/guest relations, retail, volunteers, etc. Manages approval process of site updates with stakeholders.Troubleshoots and responds to all website issues, including potential security breaches.Works closely with Director of Publications on content strategy and defining priorities.Works with Marketing Department to support email marketing program as needed, including scheduling, designing, writing, and routing email blasts for approval.Coordinates with Special Events Department to ensure that online ticketing links are created and added to the website in a timely manner.Coordinates with and manages web development and design consultants for site redesigns, technical support, and maintenance.Coordinates with outside vendors as needed for hosting, domain registration, plug-ins, and other web-related services.Assists in the evaluation and implementation of new and emerging web technologies.Responsible for writing original web copy as well as adapting/editing text from in-house publications for use on the main website and blog.

Pitches and develops original content in support of strategic objectives for use across digital channels.Selects photos and video content for use on the site. Coordinates with staff to request new videos and photography when necessary.Seeks out stories for the Zoo Blog to increase awareness of the Zoo in the community and generate interest in visiting and supporting the Zoo.Follows best practices for SEO and accessibility, including implementation of relevant meta data such as description, title, and alt text.Other duties, as assigned.Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesBachelor's Degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or other communications-related field.Proficient in front-end web development: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress; Adobe Creative Suite; and email marketing software (e.g., MailChimp) Familiarity with Acme (ticketing system) and Monsido (web optimization tool) a plus.Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills.Desire to constantly learn about emerging technology and other web-related developments.Demonstrated ability to work as both a team member and team leader, and to collaborate and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and trustees.Able to prepare, analyze and act upon performance data, such as site traffic and referral sources, using GA4.Proven track record of increasing web traffic and engagement through digital marketing/SEO.Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage schedules and deadlines for multiple projects.Experience adhering to documented standards for copy, obtaining feedback and approvals from stakeholders, and revising web pages according to that feedback.Demonstrated ability to write and communicate about wildlife and zoo management, mission, and programs, with an eye for visualizing how content will appear in a multimedia environment.Demonstrated ability to remain in a stationary position and focus on a computer screen for extended periods duringAbility to work all GLAZA galasCompensationThe annual salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000, depending upon experience and qualifications.
