Position Summary
Reporting to the Studio Manager of the School of Design, Arts, and Communication (SODAC), the Student Assistant works collaboratively with a diverse team of student workers to develop a welcoming and supportive community within the SODAC. The Student Assistant in the SODAC provides service to students, faculty and staff through equipment assistance and product troubleshooting as well as offers adequate support in the operation and maintenance of the facilities. This position will work directly with the Studio Manager as well as full time and adjunct faculty in the SODAC.
Education/Experience
Current Stevenson University student attending the University in good standing with the University academically and judicially. Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
Open to current students enrolled in the SODAC within the departments of Communication, Graphic Design, and Film & Moving Image, at the class rank of at least sophomore and to students who may not be in one of these majors, but have significant experience with related support and technologies.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilityAbility to work with a team as well as independently, show initiative, have good time-management skills, be responsible, be innovative and be a self-starter.Possesses a demonstrated appreciation for all aspects of diversity and inclusion including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, ability, class, age, learning differences, political perspectives, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and religious expression.Ability to create a welcoming space for people of diverse backgroundsInterest in all or some of the following: art, graphic design, printing, photography, graphics softwareKnowledge of Printing and ScanningDemonstrated ability to learn and perform Vinyl Cutting, weeding, and installationDemonstrated ability to learn and perform LaminatingDemonstrated ability to learn and perform Button making and Sticker makingDemonstrated ability to learn and perform 3-D PrintingKnowledge of general Art and Graphic Design Tools and SuppliesKnowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, XD, and InDesignAdequate computer office skills and willing to learn procedures as needed within the SODAC.Physical Requirements
Medium work: exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Keyboarding, standing and/or sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal.

Assist students, faculty, and staff with Garrity Design Studio equipmentMaintain equipment within the Garrity Design Studio spaceTroubleshoot technical or physical issues with equipmentDemonstrate proper use of equipment to studentsComplete graphic design related projects for the SODAC Dean's OfficeMaintain clean and orderly workspace in the Garrity Design StudioCheck equipment for proper working order, report damaged equipment or low supply to Studio Manager
