Overview:

HKS Dallas is seeking an experienced Job Captain to join our team.

An established professional who exercises independent judgment in evaluation, selection and use of standard techniques, and solves problems when encountered. Manages the firm's resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.

Responsibilities:Coordinates team efforts to facilitate effective execution of project design and the delivery of implementation documentsWorks with PIC/PM in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlinesCollaborates in developing solutions to technical and design detail problems with minimal guidanceUtilizes creative thinking to achieve innovative solutionsContributes to supervising the preparation of documents by project team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectationsAssists with the development of interiors concepts based on client vision, desire and architectural conceptMay assist with technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a projectPrepares client presentations and may present design concepts and drawingsCoordinates with PM, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, to respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications and to obtain approvals and adjust scope of servicesCommunicates with other disciplines, product representatives, furniture dealers, fabricators and contractors to incorporate all information into project requirementsPerforms product research; assists project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selectionsDevelops code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are metParticipates in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes and lightingCoordinates with project team on review and approval of final interior and exterior programming, design development documents, construction documents, furnishings selections and purchases, RFIs and submittalsMay lead team meetings to discuss project and technical issuesMay attend on-site visits, field reviews, project meetings and coordination meetings and documents these visits as appropriateMay lead consultant team work sessions and prepare meeting minutes for coordination meetingsDevelops, recognizes, recruits and grows diverse talentManages conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environmentAssists PIC/PM with the development and management of project job costs, budget and resourcing projectionsUnderstands fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting processMay participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projectsSupports and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business and assisting with proposals, budgets and schedulesQualifications:

Accredited professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture or equivalent in education or experienceNCIDQ certification or architectural license strongly preferredTypically 6+ years of experienceSustainable design accreditation strongly preferredExperience in RevitProficiency in software such as, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and InDesign preferredWorking knowledge of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) software preferredProficiency in MS Office Suite preferredStrong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelinesKnowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines and QA/QC processStrong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and incorporate into technical documentsExperience with FF&E to carry out design intentStrong presentation skillsAbility to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
