The Middle School Librarian Assistant will support the daily operations of the library, ensuring a welcoming and resource-rich environment for students and staff. This role involves assisting with library services, managing library materials, and providing basic IT support. The ideal candidate will be organized, tech-savvy, and comfortable working with students of various ages and learning capabilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Library Operations:

- Loan library materials such as books and other resources to staff and students.

- Catalog and maintain library materials to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.

- Supervise students assigned to the library for study hall, test completion, or other purposes.

- Assist with the registration of new student accounts and provide password reset support.

Student and Staff Support:

- Assist students in using library resources effectively.

- Perform routine administrative tasks, including answering phone calls and organizing files.

- Help plan and participate in special library events, such as author visits and other programs.

- Provide direct support to students and staff at the circulation desk.

IT Support:

- Assist staff and students with the use of computers and software.

- Distribute devices and assist with account setup for students.

- Troubleshoot device issues for students and staff, preparing IT tickets for repairs or damages.

- Maintain a spreadsheet to track obligations for damaged or lost devices/chargers, and contact students and parents/guardians regarding these obligations.

- Manage control of loaner devices in the school, issuing replacement Chromebooks when appropriate.

- Provide password reset assistance for student accounts and the Sapphire system.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.

- Previous experience in a library or educational setting is highly desirable.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

- Proficiency with computer software and library databases.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
